economic decline

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 15, 2008, 10:41 AM
It's an interesting thing. Interesting in that, I've just barely grown up, and the country, or at least, california, seems to be going to hell in a handbasket.

It's scary. I know taxes are necessary, and some people make a lot of money in them...I just don't understand why my money is worth so little these days.

Gas has risen to over four fifty a gallon. I know other parts of the world are more, but here, we were raised on the auto. There's no other easy way to get around. Bus fair has gone up as well.

It's frightening when you think about all the people who had to declare bankruptcy and foreclose their homes. The people who have been evicted from rentals, and all the rest who can't find work. It's been getting worse. When I was unemployed, I put out so many applications. One I put out in January only just got back to me a couple weeks ago.

I don't think there's anything the average Joe can do except spend wisely and try to be as economical as possible. I know I'll at least be filling my bike tires soon. There doesn't seem to be any other option.

I can only hope these problems aren't as widespread throughout the rest of the country as much as they are in my state. I certainly hope it'll end soon.

Happiness is the seasonal air,
Let the warm breezes lessen your cares,
The sun is shining the grass is green,
Open your window and pull down the screen,
Time to put your worries away,
How can you feel down on such a beautiful day?

I can't take credit for the quote. I was quoting Einstein.

Science focus? That's something I've never heard myself referred to before. Normally I just hear things like: Dork nerd or geek. lol.

I still have a whole lot of California to see. I haven't gotten the opportunities to travel a whole lot yet, but it'll be awesome once I do. We're lucky to live in such a state, even if it is crazy expensive in places.

"It has become appaulingly clear that our technology has surpassed our humanity.."
...damn scary, but you'll get no argument from of on the bluntness of your statement. I still enjoy some of the "LOW" tech alternatives available in our high tech world.

thank you, again, Lacey, for the :+fav:'s!

High:highfive:Five's for the science-focus for your direction in life! You - we - have a wonderful environment to discover, explore, learn from and about, and convey its "magic" to others here in N Calif., yes?
